Coastal accessibility events return this Summer

A series of community events promoting accessible beach experiences will return to the Great Ocean Road region this summer, offering hands-on opportunities for visitors to explore the mobility equipment available along the coast. 

The program aims to support inclusive access for people of all abilities and increase awareness of the beach wheelchairs, walkers, matting and assisted activities offered at key sites. 

Apollo Bay: Roll With the Tides – Come & Try Afternoon 

The Roll With the Tides event will be held in Apollo Bay, giving locals and visitors the chance to test beach mobility equipment and learn more about accessible locations across the region. 

Location: Near Apollo Bay SLSC 

Date: Friday 5 December 

Time: 3pm – 6pm 

Attendees will be able to: 

  • Test beach wheelchairs and walkers 

  • See beach matting in action 

  • Learn about accessible beaches along the coast 

  • Find out how to book equipment for the summer season 

Port Campbell: Beach Inclusion Day 

A second event, hosted by the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club, will celebrate accessible coastal recreation with a full day of inclusive activities. 

Location: Port Campbell SLSC 

Date: Sunday 14 December 

Time: 10am – 4pm 

Activities will include: 

  • Assisted beach walks using wheelchairs and walkers 

  • Inclusive surfing sessions with the Disabled Surfers Association 

  • Guest speakers 

  • Information on booking beach mobility equipment
