Second fish cleaning table for Fishermans Beach Torquay
Published on 24 April 2025
The Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority are teaming up to install a second fish cleaning table at Fishermans Beach in Torquay.
The new fish cleaning table is part of broader upgrade works that began in 2024 and will complement recent improvements to the car park.
Installed in collaboration with the Torquay Angling Club, the additional facility will help meet growing demand and improve the fishing experience for locals and visitors alike.
The second fish cleaning table will be located adjacent to the existing one and will feature a matching design.
It will be plumbed into the existing sump system, with fish waste collected for composting—reflecting best-practice environmental management to protect both marine life and beachgoers.
It’s another step toward making Fishermans Beach a top destination for recreational fishing on the Surf Coast.
The Victorian Fisheries Authority has provided $50,000 of funds from the sale of recreational fishing licences for the project and construction is expected to commence the week of Monday 28 April 2025.
Attribute to Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Coastal Reserves Manager Caleb Hurrell:
“The tables will benefit Torquay Angling Club members and the thousands of keen anglers launching from Fishermans Beach every year.”
“The extra fish cleaning table will help more people have the facilities they need to enjoy the great outdoors.”
