The local wildlife is already loving the new Nesting Boxes in Taylor Park Torquay.
Nesting boxes are artificial shelters that replace naturally occurring hollows in trees, which many native Australian wildlife species rely on for shelter. Hollows can take over 100 years to form
There are 20 new nesting boxes of varying sizes and construction design, all made from marine ply, thanks to the hard work of local members of the Torquay Community Men's Shed.
The new nesting boxes installed are:
-
Four Wren Boxes - Hole Size 31-38 mm
-
Four Small Parrot Boxes 30- 45 mm
-
Four Rosella Boxes 65- 70 mm
-
Four Kookaburra Boxes
We hope that these nesting boxes will attract a variety of mammals and birds to Taylor Park and enhance the biodiversity and beauty of this area.
