The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
About the Role
The Visitor Experience Team Member plays a key role in creating memorable, engaging and safe experiences for visitors to the world-renowned Twelve Apostles Precinct.
Working as part of a high-performing team, you will help bring the precinct to life through tours, events, activations and meaningful visitor interactions. From sharing stories about the landscape and its cultural significance to assisting with events and supporting visitor flow, you'll help ensure every guest enjoys a positive and memorable experience.
This is a hands-on role suited to people who love working with diverse audiences, thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about tourism, customer service and the natural environment.
As part of GORCAPA's flexible workforce model, you may also support operations across other sites and business areas, including Cape Otway Lightstation and caravan park operations.
What You'll Do
- Deliver engaging and informative visitor experiences, tours, talks and activations.
- Welcome and assist visitors, creating positive and memorable interactions.
- Encourage visitors to explore the precinct and surrounding region through proactive engagement.
- Support the delivery of community events, seasonal programs, festivals and special activations.
- Assist with event setup, operations and pack-down activities.
- Maintain safe, clean and welcoming experience areas and visitor spaces.
- Support visitor flow and crowd management during busy periods.
- Collect visitor feedback and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
- Follow all safety, environmental and cultural heritage requirements.
- Work collaboratively with visitor services, retail and operational teams to ensure seamless precinct operations.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals who enjoy connecting with people and creating exceptional visitor experiences.
You will bring:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse audiences.
- A passion for tourism, storytelling, visitor experiences or interpretation.
- Experience in customer service, tourism, hospitality, events or visitor-facing environments.
- The ability to remain calm, professional and adaptable in changing conditions and busy environments.
- A team-first attitude and willingness to support colleagues across multiple functions.
- Strong reliability, attendance and flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods.
- Confidence working outdoors and undertaking active, hands-on duties.
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience delivering tours, talks, demonstrations or guided experiences.
- Knowledge of the Great Ocean Road region, local history, environment or cultural heritage.
- Current First Aid qualifications.
