The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
About the role
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail Team Members to join the team at the iconic Twelve Apostles Visitor Precinct.
In this casual position, you'll play a key role in creating memorable visitor experiences by providing exceptional customer service, supporting retail sales and maintaining high presentation standards throughout the visitor centre. Working within a fast-paced tourism environment, you'll help visitors connect with one of Australia's most celebrated destinations while contributing to the commercial success of the precinct.
This role may also provide opportunities to support operations across other GORCAPA locations, including caravan parks and Cape Otway Lightstation.
What you'll do
- Deliver warm, friendly and engaging service to visitors from Australia and around the world.
- Provide product recommendations and accurate information to enhance the visitor experience.
- Process sales, returns and transactions using point-of-sale systems.
- Promote featured products, seasonal offers and add-on sales opportunities.
- Assist with stock receiving, replenishment, stocktakes and stockroom organisation.
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, cleanliness and store presentation.
- Support accessibility and inclusive customer service for diverse audiences.
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries and escalate issues when required.
- Follow all safety, operational and emergency procedures while contributing to a safe workplace.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the visitor precinct during peak and off-peak periods.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in retail, tourism or a customer-facing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, proactive and solutions-focused attitude.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating visitor volumes.
- Sound retail presentation and visual merchandising skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming and culturally respectful experiences.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Ability to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
