The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Coastal Operations Officer to provide high-quality administrative and project support to our Coastal Operations team based in Torquay.
Working with the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA), you’ll contribute to the protection, maintenance and sustainable management of one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. This is a dynamic, full-time ongoing position within a team responsible for maintaining critical coastal assets and enhancing visitor experiences across the region.
What You’ll Do
- Provide project and program support including maintaining registers, databases, documentation and reporting systems
- Assist in the delivery of operational and strategic projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (Marine and Coastal Act, Aboriginal Heritage Act, National Parks Act)
- Plan and deliver small projects and coordinate assigned programs
- Manage stakeholder enquiries and provide timely, accurate responses
- Prepare agendas, minutes, briefing papers and track action items for meetings
- Develop reports, presentations, risk assessments, project plans and grant submissions
- Support governance, procurement and administrative processes across the directorate
- Maintain accurate online content, FAQs and internal documentation
- Coordinate events, workshops and internal functions
- Act as a key communication link between Coastal Operations and the broader organisation
What We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (or currently completing)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting environmental or project-based programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality documentation
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated attention to detail, initiative and problem-solving capability
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, databases)
- Understanding of coastal, environmental or public land management (desirable)
- Knowledge of cultural heritage practices and working respectfully with Traditional Owners
- Commitment to workplace safety and best practice OH&S
