Surf Coast Walk

A surfer walking along the Aireys Inlet boardwalk down the stairs to the beach. The sky is grey and the swell has many white peaks.

The Surf Coast Walk is one of Victoria’s premier coastal experiences, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the region’s beaches, cliffs, forests and seaside communities.

Stretching along the coastline from White’s Beach in Torquay to Fairhaven, the approximately 41-kilometre trail invites walkers to discover an ever-changing landscape of sandy beaches, rugged headlands and spectacular ocean views.

The route connects some of the Surf Coast’s most iconic destinations, providing opportunities to pause for a swim, enjoy local cafés, or simply take in the natural beauty of the coastline.

With 718 metres of elevation gain, the trail is considered moderately challenging and takes about 10 hours and 17 minutes to complete in full.

However, it’s divided into 12 sections, making it easy to enjoy shorter walks or spread the journey across several days.

The trail is dog-friendly (with dogs required to be on a leash) and open year-round.

Whether you’re after a quick stroll or a full-day trek, the Surf Coast Walk offers a great way to experience nature, surf culture, and local heritage.
