Storm Recovery Update: Closures in Eastern Great Otway National Park
Published on 18 February 2026
Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding in January caused significant damage across parts of the eastern Great Otway National Park, including areas around Lorne.
Although Lorne itself is open, safe and welcoming visitors there are a number of roads, walking tracks and visitor sites that are currently closed while detailed safety assessments and clean-up works continue.
Flooding, debris and unstable ground conditions have impacted multiple locations. Access to the base of Erskine Falls and sections of the Erskine Falls Walking Track remain closed, with viewing currently limited to the upper platform only. Several other popular tracks and 4WD access roads are also affected.
As conditions can change as assessments progress and works are completed, visitors are encouraged to check the live updates page before travelling:

Visitors are also reminded to follow all on-ground signage and directions from response crews, and not to enter closed areas.
