Preparation for the Summer ahead

Ranger Diary by Foreshore Ranger Darragh O'Sullivan

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been hard at work protecting our precious environment, reducing bushfire risks and preparing to welcome summer crowds to the coast.

Bushfire risks

One of our key priorities has been using chainsaws and brush cutters to reduce fuel loads around Aireys Inlet and Lorne.

It's tough work but rewarding to know we’re helping to reduce woody weeds, protect homes, and our beautiful natural landscape from the threat of bushfires.

Our walking tracks have also been a big area of focus. We’ve been cutting back overgrown vegetation and clearing paths, to make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone using the beautiful views around Lorne.

Accessible beaches

As part of the Accessible Beaches program, we’ve rolled out beach matting at Anglesea Riverbank and Lorne so more people can enjoy the ocean.

We offer a range of equipment including hoists, beach wheelchairs, parking and beach matting from Torquay to Port Campbell.

Check out our new and improved booking system for accessible beach equipment.

Stay tuned for more ranger adventures!
