The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. As Retail Supervisor, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the store, leading a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving sales performance and achieving key targets. You’ll play a hands-on leadership role—supporting staff, managing operations, and ensuring the store operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently in a high-volume tourism environment.
This role may also support operations across other GORCAPA sites, including visitor services, caravan parks, and Cape Otway Lightstation.
Please note that this role is anticipated to commence in September, with the exact start date to be confirmed.
What you’ll do
- Lead and coach the retail team to deliver outstanding customer service
- Drive sales performance, achieve KPIs, and maximise revenue opportunities
- Manage daily store operations including rostering, inventory, merchandising, and presentation
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and complex situations with professionalism
- Support team training, onboarding, and ongoing development
- Oversee stock management, reporting, and store compliance processes
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including banking and reporting
- Assist with hands-on retail tasks including sales, stock replenishment, and food/beverage preparation
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and high-performing team environment
- Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a supervisor or duty manager role within retail, tourism, or hospitality
- Proven ability to drive sales performance and achieve KPIs
- Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, positive approach
- Excellent customer service skills, including handling complaints and resolving issues
- Experience with rostering, inventory management, and visual merchandising
- Strong operational and organisational capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail/POS systems
- A genuine passion for tourism, premium retail, and customer experience
You’ll also need to be able to obtain or provide:
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- Evidence of Australian working rights
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence
