The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.

Join the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority as a Lightstation Attendant and play a key role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences at the iconic Cape Otway Lightstation.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where no two days are the same. As an all-rounder, you’ll support the day-to-day operations across housekeeping, ticketing, and the café, helping ensure the site is welcoming, clean, and running smoothly for all visitors.

What You’ll Do

In this varied and dynamic role, you will:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service as the first point of contact for visitors
  • Process ticket sales, retail transactions, and assist with group bookings
  • Prepare and serve coffee, food, and beverages in the café
  • Carry out general cleaning and housekeeping duties, including accommodation and amenities
  • Assist with guest check-in/check-out and accommodation coordination
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across the site
  • Support opening and closing procedures and ensure site security
  • Monitor visitor flow, including carpark and gate areas
  • Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally
  • Maintain stock levels, including linen, cleaning supplies, and retail items
  • Contribute to a friendly, positive team environment
  • Ensure compliance with OHS policies and safe work practices
  • Share knowledge of the Lightstation and surrounding region with visitors

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking enthusiastic and reliable team members who thrive in customer-facing environments.

Essential:
  • Experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service roles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Practical experience with cleaning and housekeeping duties
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction
Desirable:
  • Barista/coffee-making experience
  • Food handling certificate
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • First Aid certificate
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Valid Australian work rights
