Summer’s on along the Great Ocean Road
Published on 20 January 2026
The sun’s out, the road is open and the Great Ocean Road is ready to welcome visitors.
After a challenging few weeks across parts of the coast, access has been restored and the region is very much open for summer. The Great Ocean Road is open for visitors, and our parks are open too.
After recent flood and fire events across parts of the coast, clean-up works are continuing in some locations, but communities, businesses and parks are ready to welcome visitors back.
All Great Ocean Road Parks caravan parks are open and welcoming guests, from Torquay through to Port Campbell, with one exception. Erskine Park in Lorne remains closed for now. Impacted guests have been retrieving belongings over recent days, and those with upcoming bookings are being contacted directly.
Many of the region’s much-loved attractions are also open and ready to enjoy. Erskine Falls, Cape Otway Lightstation and Maits Rest are all open to visitors, offering plenty of opportunities to get out, explore and enjoy the coast and forest this summer.
Visitors are encouraged to continue following advice from Parks Victoria, including avoiding parts of Great Otway National Park while site and trail assessments are completed. These checks are an important part of making sure parks reopen safely, and updates will be shared as more areas become available.
While conditions continue to settle, the broader Great Ocean Road region is very much open for business. From beaches to wineries, breweries, cafés and local restaurants, there’s plenty to see, do and enjoy, including iconic spots like the Twelve Apostles.
If you’re planning a summer getaway, now is a great time to visit, support local communities and enjoy everything the coast has to offer.
We can’t wait to see you!
