Site Investigations Underway at Kennett River Caravan Park
Published on 04 August 2025
Geotechnical investigations will take place at the Kennett River Caravan Park from Tuesday 6 August to Thursday 8 August, as part of early planning for potential wastewater and infrastructure upgrades. Works will occur daily between 8am and 5pm across selected areas of the park.
These investigations are a critical step in designing environmentally safe improvements to park infrastructure, including potential new toilets and wastewater systems. Testing will also assess for acid sulphate soils and local groundwater conditions to inform sustainable site design.
A medium-sized drill rig and contractors will be on-site to assess soil and groundwater conditions. Boreholes will be dug using either a drill rig or hand auger and carefully reinstated after testing.

While most of the park will remain accessible to visitors, the car park near the wetlands (Area 7) will be closed for the duration of the works. Other work zones will be safely cordoned off without impacting public access.
Minimal disruption is expected, and all works will comply with safety and environmental regulations. We’re working closely with park management and relevant authorities to minimise any disruption.
We appreciate your understanding as we progress this important planning work.
