London Bridge, The Grotto and The Arch
Just beyond Port Campbell, the Great Ocean Road continues through some of its most dramatic coastal scenery.
London Bridge, The Grotto and The Arch each offer a different view of the Shipwreck Coast, where limestone, wind and waves have shaped the shoreline into lookouts, sea caves, arches and offshore formations.
London Bridge is one of the coast’s most famous landmarks. Once connected to the mainland, the natural arch collapsed in 1990, leaving two visitors stranded on the newly formed island until they were rescued by helicopter. Today, the lookout offers sweeping views across the coastline and the ocean below.
At dusk, Little Penguins may be seen returning to the protected beach beneath London Bridge. During winter, Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales can also be spotted along this stretch of coast as they move through the Southern Ocean.
Nearby, The Grotto frames the coastline through a natural window of rock, while The Arch stands exposed to the full force of the ocean, with waves breaking around its base.
Together, these three stops offer a quieter but unforgettable Great Ocean Road experience, rich in geology, wildlife and coastal drama.
