The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
We are seeking a Conservation Ranger to deliver on‑ground conservation and environmental works across our managed sites.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver on‑ground conservation works including weed control, revegetation, pest management, track works and site maintenance.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of conservation projects aligned with the Coastal Vegetation Strategy.
- Ensure works comply with relevant legislation, permits and environmental management plans.
- Work safely in the field while upholding a strong health, safety and environmental culture.
- Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, community groups and stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
- Engage with the community through working bees and education activities as required.
- Contribute to broader organisational initiatives and projects that support GORCAPA’s strategic objectives.
What you’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in conservation, land management or a related environmental field.
- Practical experience in coastal biodiversity conservation, including site assessment, monitoring and reporting.
- Relevant accreditations such as chemical handling, chainsaw operation and OHS (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience using GPS, GIS or other spatial tools.
- Knowledge of cultural heritage protection processes (or a willingness to learn).
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with the public and community groups.
- The ability to work independently, proactively and as part of a team in a dynamic outdoor environment.
