The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and capable Duty Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the Cape Otway Lightstation. Reporting to the Lightstation Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, excellent customer service, and a safe, high-performing site.
You will step into a leadership role when managers are off site, taking responsibility for operational decisions and supporting the team across a variety of functions.
This is a full-time fixed term contract for 6 months.
What You’ll Do
- Support the daily management and operations of the Lightstation site
- Act as Duty Manager in the absence of the Manager/Assistant Manager
- Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve guest issues professionally
- Manage bookings, invoicing, ticket sales and general administration
- Assist with staff rostering, payroll support and team coordination
- Lead by example in OHS, emergency response and safe work practices
- Oversee opening/closing procedures, including financial reconciliation and reporting
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and site security
- Order stock and manage inventory within agreed budgets
- Support and train team members across administration, cleaning, café, ticketing and grounds
- Assist in planning and promoting tours and visitor experiences
- Respond to after-hours calls and incidents as part of on-call duties
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders, guests and the local community
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a Duty Manager or supervisory role, ideally within hospitality or tourism
- Relevant qualification in Business Administration, Hospitality or Tourism (desirable)
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to manage complaints and complex situations
- Experience with booking systems (e.g. RMS) and financial processes such as payroll and budgeting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead, support and motivate a diverse team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- A proactive, adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment
