One of the best ways you can enjoy the Great Ocean Road region is with a Licensed Tour Operator.
We’re thrilled to announce the competitive awarding of 13 tour operator licences to local businesses, following a public expression of interest process.
Our role as public land managers is to support safe, sustainable, high-quality nature-based tourism along the Great Ocean Road.
Licences were awarded to Apollo Bay Surf & Kayak, Club Lorne Outdoor Education Camp, Go Ride A Wave, Honu Honi Surf Camp, Ecologic, Ocean Mind, SeaEarth Adventure, Southern Exposure, Stonker, Torquay Fitness & Lifestyle, Torquay Surfing Academy and Walk91.
These local providers offer a diverse range of commercial tours and recreational activities for locals and visitors to enjoy. Activities on offer range from bushwalking, bike riding, surfing to wellness and fitness activities such as stretch, strength, yoga, personal training, organised swimming and running.
Operators have been selected based on their commitment to providing exceptional experiences while adhering to strict safety standards and environmental guidelines.
To run commercial tours and recreational activities on public land, a provider must be licensed by the responsible land manager, in line with the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978.

Protection of natural and cultural values and general visitor enjoyment by managing access, use and impacts.

Safety of visitors by specifying safety standards, insurance coverage and risk management.

An opportunity to develop a land manager–operator relationship to realise dual benefits such as activity and use information, and communication about infrastructure and facilities.
