30 January 2024

The Education Team welcomed a new Education Assistant this Summer season; Indigo Crawley, to aid the delivery of environmental education activities during the Summer Camper Activities program.

This position was created to inspire and mentor the next generation of environmental professionals through real-world experience, as part of our commitment to our values of intergenerational equity and environmental advocacy.

While she was based at the Baines Cresent office, she spent most of her time sharing our messages about caring for our coast and beaches in the field. At our Caravan Parks she led the environmental craft activities, connecting with our Caravan Park visitors on sunny rock pool rambles, nature walks and beach treasure talks.

Thanks for a wonderful Summer, Indigo!

Reflections from our Summer Assistant Indigo

"This summer I was honored to join Education Team for their Summer Camper Activities. It was amazing to see how engaged participants were and that you could genuinely see the difference you were making. Each person gained a growing curiosity to understand and care for the natural environment they were holidaying in, especially since some had been returning to the same beach for many years.

It was great to work in a supportive team where we could all learn great information from each other and continue our own curiosity! I hope to apply this knowledge of the marine and bush environment as well as skills like leadership into future job opportunities and while finishing my studies in the coming year."
