We are proud of our Education team who recently shared their work and passion with some of the brightest young minds in government. They attended the Emerging Professionals Network Forum at Fairhaven, where they met 70 graduates from different departments and agencies across Victoria. They all care about our environment and climate, just like we do.

Environment and Education Manager, Jude Hassall gave an overview of what we do at the Authority. She talked about our vision, values, roles and projects. She also shared some of her personal stories and tips from working in coastal and marine management for over 25 years. The forum theme was “Turning the Tide: Reconnect and Revitalise”, and Jude showed how we are doing that every day.

Our amazing education leaders, Mel, Jess and Angela, then took the group to the beach for some fun and learning. They challenged them to build dunes that could resist erosion from people and water. The graduates got their hands sandy and worked together to create some impressive dunes. The activity showed how outdoor environmental education can help people understand, appreciate and protect our coast. This is how we live our values of environmental advocacy and intergenerational equity by connecting with tomorrow’s government leaders.
