Hooded Plover Eggs at Anglesea Beach

MicrosoftTeams-image.png

Three hooded plover eggs at Anglesea Beach are almost ready to hatch!

Three of our Rangers sighted the eggs and are working hard to protect them and enhance their chance of survival by installing fencing to rope off their nesting habitat.

The pair of hoodies responsible for the eggs were incredibly resilient and determined to produce a nest for their babies. As they previously encountered nest failures from high tide. Despite this, they continued to move forward!

Nests are hard to spot with the increased number of people, dogs and clumps of seaweed on our beaches.

You can help us increase the chances of these eggs hatching by looking out for signage, keeping your dog on a lead, and away from roped-off nesting habitat.
