We’ve taken on delivery of the $3.69 million Improvements to Tourism Infrastructure at Kennett River project, funded through the $500 million Geelong City Deal, a collaborative partnership to transform Geelong and the Great Ocean Road by the Australian Government and Victorian Government.

This project will support the growing tourism and visitor economy by delivering public infrastructure and accessibility improvements including:

  • A new public toilet and a new or upgraded wastewater treatment plant in the adjoining Kennett River Caravan Park; and

  • Carpark and road improvements works.

To get things started, we’ve launched an online survey that will run from early December to 18 January 2024. This first round of community engagement is focused on finding out more about what you liked and disliked about the previous plan for the project and to provide information about what the future plans for the project will include.

In late January, we’ll also be holding two workshop sessions to chat to the Kennett River community and campers about the project. These workshops are intended to help us understand what the issues and opportunities are for Kennett River tourism infrastructure improvements.

At these workshops we will summarise and discuss what we’ve heard from the community so far and open up the conversation to hear your thoughts on possible future scenarios in Kennett River.

• Saturday 20 January 10am – 12pm (in-person workshop at the Kennett River Surf Life Saving Clubhouse)

• Monday 22 January 5pm – 6.30pm (online workshop)

We’ll share further updates and other opportunities for the community to provide feedback on the project in early 2024.
