The accessible beaches season has wrapped up for another year, after a record summer of bookings across the coast.
More than 95 bookings were made for accessible beach equipment this season, helping more people enjoy time on the sand and in the water at some of the Great Ocean Road’s most popular beaches.
The strong result continues the growth of the program, with bookings increasing from 15 two seasons ago to 65 last season, to the 95 this summer.
The increase shows the importance of making accessible beach equipment visible, easy to find and easy to book.
It also reflects the power of word of mouth, with more families, carers, visitors and community members learning that accessible beach days are possible.
The equipment will now be packed away for the cooler months before returning on the first day of summer.
We thank everyone who booked, shared, supported and helped spread the word this season.
We’re already counting down to summer.
