Follow a scenic stretch of the Great Ocean Road on foot, with this coastal walk linking the townships of Kennett River and Wye River through forested slopes above the Southern Ocean.
The 4.6 kilometre trail is undulating, with steps, creek crossings and some steep sections along the way. High points offer views through tall eucalypts towards the coast, while storyboards along the route share some of the history of the area.
The walk begins in Wye River, winding through the township before joining the trail near the top of Morley Avenue. From here, the track follows the steep edge of the Otway Ranges above the Great Ocean Road before descending towards Kennett River.
Birdlife is often heard throughout the forest, and on clear days there are sweeping views towards Cape Otway and across Bass Strait.
Kennett River and Wye River sit within the Great Otway National Park landscape, around 15 minutes east of Lorne. The area feels quieter and less developed than some nearby destinations, with simple facilities and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the coast, forest and surrounding Great Ocean Road scenery.
