Experienced Victorian construction company Bowden Corporation has been appointed to deliver the Point Grey redevelopment project in Lorne.
Selected through a competitive tender process, Bowden Corporation brings a strong track record in delivery across the Great Ocean Road region and will support local jobs during construction, with offices in Geelong and Warrnambool and through the use of local sub-contractors.
The project is funded through the $676 million Geelong City Deal, an investment between the Australian and Victorian Governments and the City of Greater Geelong to unlock the potential of the region’s visitor economy.
Construction will begin in early February 2026.
Redeveloping Point Grey will revitalise the iconic site for local residents and visitors, with new and improved facilities, including:
- improved traffic flow, parking and public open space, walking paths and new facilities for visitors, community events and fishing
- a new Co-Op that includes a vibrant new hospitality offering, display spaces for the Lorne Historical Society and accessible public toilets
- a new Aquatic and Angling Club building that includes an outdoor area and a public fish cleaning facility
- recognition of the Eastern Maar people’s connection to country, as well as the site’s maritime, and timber history through display spaces, signage, sculptures, and other design features.
Bowden Corporation will explore all options to maintain community access to the Doug Stirling Track, Lorne pier and boat ramp during construction where feasible and safe.
