Our Coast Guardians have been busy this school term, removing extensive weeds from Torquay coastal reserves.

A small group of passionate school students from Surf Coast Secondary College showed great enthusiasm to get their hands dirty and take the lead in removing an enormous pile of invasive Sallow Wattle from the Fishermans Beach dunes. The students carried out this work under the trusty supervision of two of our Conservation Team staff.

Caring and investing in our dune ecosystem is essential for the protection of coastal flora and fauna habitat at risk of erosion.

It was evident that after the education session the next generation of local community stewards understood the important of dune conservation and protection.
